When you are in New Orleans or the South, you eat as Southerners do. Nawlins Baby!!! Great seafood here. Local, authentic, and delectable. Would Fresh Prince get a Philly cheese steak without grease on the bag? Nope. Eat how the locals do. Highly recommended.
It has gotten much better lines move much faster as result of them not accepting snap!!
I ordered a shrimp poboy dressed. All of the fixings were fresh and they did not hold back on the shrimp. I also ordered a half dozen of boiled blue crabs( should have ordered a dozen) they were so fresh and the didn't smell "fishy" like the crabs you get at some of the other restaurants in the area(Cajuns, Danny's, Sols, MidCity). Definitely recommend this spot for fresh seafood.
They catfish plate was off the change meaning good I don't normally eat fast food on the regular and I don't normally get food if it's not worth buying or spending extra money!!! But all that to say it's not to many places you can get good fish plate!!! I'll be going bake to try the shrimp plate and potatoes salad!!
Fresh seafood for the foodie in you. Cut fresh filets or iqf box buys of crab (assorted species) basa- shrimp-oyster-specks-reds-drum..z OMG. I'M ON MY WAY TOO CAST A NET
If you like Cajun seafood, look no further than Castnet Seafood, where you can get a great meal at reasonable prices. I was surprised by the selection of seafood prepared in a variety of different ways from fresh to boiled to fried. I ended up going for the fried catfish plate, while my partner went for the shrimp plate, and it was honestly surprising how massive each plate came out to be (at least 4 catfish filets and 20-30 shrimp). Food came out fresh within 15 minutes and was polished clean soon after. Will stop by again the next time we are in the area! Pros: Fresh, affordable, and delicious seafood. Cons: Separate lines for fried vs boiled/fresh seafood without marked signs. Ended up ordering just fried food this time, but next time will try boiled shrimp and fresh oysters! Parking situation can be challenging depending on time of day. Open parking lot on side, but can fill up quickly
Ordered a boiled sausage and the catfish + shrimp fry plate... in heaven. The perfect breading ratio for the catfish with amazing seasoning. Super fresh shrimp and generous portions for the seafood. Will definitely be back!! Service was fast and a casual spot. Seems like most ppl called ahead of time to order
Ive been coming here for 30 plus years and still the best place for seafood in New Orleans, be it fresh, fried, or boiled Castnet has you covered. The plates are big enough for two people the poboys are huge and the gumbo is great as well. If you are out in the east its worth a stop.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Do I even need to elaborate even further? One of the best fresh seafood places I've ever been to. This place was highly recommended by our local friends, and we're sooo ecstatic that they did. Definitely a local gem, the location is approximately a 30 minute drive to East NOLA, definitely a locals spot, people were really friendly and helpful to two novice outsiders. Really fresh seafood, seasoned just right and cooked to perfection, and their prices are very affordable for high quality and fresh seafood. Don't expect a fine dining experience, be prepared to feel like if you're at your parents backyard with picnic tables and paper towel rolls. If my memory serves me right, there was four tables inside and approximately another four outside.
Just WOW. Fresh. Local. Authentic. You cannot get any fresher than Castnet! We heard about this spot from a local who recommended going out to East New Orleans to get the best seafood. On our uber rides there and back, our drivers asked HOW we knew about this local gem - it's clear that this is not your usual tourist spot since it's about 20 mins drive from the French quarter. Needless to say, everything was top notch and fresh. You take a number and wait to be served. Then you can pick what seafood you want, fresh or boiled. We opted for some shrimp and snow crab claws alongside some corn, potatoes and sausage. Of course, also got a dozen oysters that ran you $13/dozen. Once we got all our items, we opted to dine in at one of the casual picnic tables around the corner. Got a tray to dump all the goodies in and FEASTED LIKE ROYALTY. Everything was beyond fresh. Worth the drive 1000%. All seafood lovers need to try this out. I also want to try their po'boys, but had to leave something for next time ;)
